Mecha meet cute: Woman tweets about how she met her husband through Gundam

A woman found true love through Instagram, and she has Mobile Suit Gundam action figures to thank for it. 

Commemorating her engagement on Twitter, Elizabeth Howley (@mitsurutenma) detailed how she got to know her husband in 2016, who was, at that time, just a random dude who slid into her DMs. 

His message to her was even weirder, and you can’t blame Elizabeth for thinking it was shady — he did, after all, wrote that he was going to send her a picture of his Gundam. I don’t know about you, but that’s a mighty fancy turn of expression for a d*** pic.

Turns out, Gundam pics really did mean Gundam pics. The random dude just wanted to show off his handiwork, having spent hours putting together the intricate plastic pieces together to build various Gundam models.

Gundam piqued her interest, but it was chance that brought them together. In a sign of things to come, Elizabeth tweeted that she felt that she “might marry him” after bumping into the Gundam-loving man.

And she would, eventually. A year after that mecha meet cute, he asked for her hand in marriage. Last week, they tied the knot.
