Two Singaporeans have died due to complications from Covid-19 infection, according to the Ministry of Health (MOH) on May 6.

Case 1414, a 97-year-old woman, died on May 5. She was confirmed to have Covid-19 on April 7, and had a history of hypertension. The National Centre for Infectious Diseases has reached out to her family and is extending assistance to them.

Case 1528, a 73-year-old man, died from complications due to Covid-19 infection on May 6. He was confirmed to have the infection on April 7, and had a history of hypertension, hyperlipidaemia and diabetes mellitus, said MOH in its statement. Singapore General Hospital has reached out to his family and is extending assistance to them.

Additionally, MOH has reported 788 new coronavirus cases in Singapore today (May 6). 

Of these, 13 cases are from the community, with 11 Singaporeans/PRs. Two are Work Pass holders.

The remaining cases come from Work Permit holders, of which 16 cases involve Work Permit holders residing outside dormitories. A majority of 759 cases are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories, said MOH in an evening update.

The total number of coronaviruses cases in Singapore has crossed the 20,000 mark and now stands at 20,198. 

MOH confirmed that there are no imported cases today and announced seven new coronavirus clusters.

The number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of 16 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 10 per day in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an
average of nine cases per day in the week before, to an average of four per day in the past week, said MOH.

Of the new cases, 93 per cent are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing. As
there have been no more cases linked to Wilby Residences (25 Wilby Road) for the past 28 days, the cluster has now been closed.

115 more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

Of the 1,462 cases who are still in hospital, most are in stable condition or improving. 23 are in critical condition, while 17,082 cases who are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

The coronavirus death toll in Singapore currently stands at 20.
