A motorcyclist and his pillion rider had a narrow brush with death when a van ran a red light, nearly colliding into them.

The incident occurred on Saturday (Feb 29) evening at the junction between Loyang Avenue and Pasir Ris Drive 1.

The entire scene was captured on Khairi Omar's dashcam, which was uploaded onto Facebook that same day.

In the harrowing seven-second-long clip, Omar's car and a motorcycle had just begun to move off when the motorcyclist braked abruptly, narrowly avoiding a white Fiat as it drove across the junction.

The motorcyclist nearly flipped forward due to the impact of the sudden braking. His pillion rider, however, was not as lucky and was thrown over the side of the vehicle.

Another clip recorded by a different car showed both victims falling onto their side. A motorcyclist behind them failed to stop in time and crashed into the pair.

In a version of the post uploaded onto All Singapore Stuff's Facebook page, Emil Yong, who said he's a friend of the victims, revealed that the accident left the pillion rider with several abrasions on her thigh and forearm.

Both of them sustained injuries that he claimed were "not minor at all" and required a follow-up appointment.

The police confirmed that a report was lodged and said investigations are ongoing.
