Former Tibet Communist Party secretary gets suspended death sentence over bribery

BEIJING — A court in Beijing on Wednesday (July 16) sentenced Wu Yingjie, a former Communist Party secretary of China's Tibet region, to death with a two-year reprieve over bribery, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
Wu had accepted bribes amounting to more than 343 million yuan (S$61.36 million) between 2006 and 2021, the report said.
