To make it easier for consumers to identify and choose the right gaming laptop, Acer has renamed its line of Predator Helios and Predator Triton laptops according to their screen sizes. This is keeping in line with most of the competition and makes things less confusing.
Alongside that announcement, Acer also officially launched the new mid-range Predator Helios Neo 16. The newest addition to the lineup is more affordable than its Predator Helios 16 and Predator Helios 18 siblings but still packs powerful components that make it ideal for work and play.
The Predator Helios Neo 16 is available in two configurations, you can choose to have it either with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 or Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 with a Maximum Graphics Power (MGP) of 140W.
Other than the different GPUs, the Predator Helios Neo 16 is built with a high-performance 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700HX CPU, 16GB of dual-channel DDR5-4800MHz RAM (supports up to 32GB) and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD (with support of up to 2TB in RAID 0 configuration). All in all, the Predator Helios Neo 16 should be able to run most of the latest AAA games or demanding software without a hitch.
Other than choosing your preferred GPU, the Predator Helios Neo 16 also comes with two different 16:10 display options. You can either opt for a WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) or WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) display, both of which have a 165Hz refresh rate.
Other than the differences in resolution, peak brightness also differs between both options with the former reaching up to 400nits while the latter can reach up to 500nits. Both panels can display 100 per cent of the sRGB colour gamut, have a three-millisecond response time and support Nvidia Advanced Optimus and G-SYNC, which means you will get the smoothest action and most vivid visuals.
Design-wise, this all-new gaming laptop is clad in an abyssal-black anodised chassis that with cover emblazoned with laser-etched codes. On the inside, the Predator Helios Neo 16 features Acer’s advanced cooling design that features a custom-engineered all-metal AeroBlade fan technology and liquid metal thermal grease that not only helps to keep the laptop cool but also enables the CPU and GPU to perform at their maximum potential.
Last but not least, the Predator Helios Neo 16 comes with the Intel Killer E2600 Ethernet Controller and Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1650 that ensures you get the fastest and most stable internet connection.
