As someone who has always been more inclined towards Western comics under the DC and Marvel banner, I generally need to learn more about the going on in the anime and manga realm. With that being said though, I do appreciate the designs of the various giant mechas from titles like Mobile Suit Gundam, Macross and of course Neon Genesis Evangelion.

If you are a fan of the third title, then Asus' Republic of Gamers' latest announcement will no doubt excite you as it is set to release another collection of PC hardware and peripherals that bear the red and orange colourway of EVA-02 piloted by Asuka Langley Sohryu in the series.

The list of products that have received this epic makeover includes the ROG Maximus Z790 motherboard, ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090, ROG Ryujin III 360 AIO cooler, ROG Hyperion GR701 case, ROG Herculx graphics card holder, ROG Strix Scope keyboard and ROG Gladius III wireless mouse.

The ROG Maximus Z790 Hero is already a pretty sleek-looking motherboard but now that it has been transformed into the ROG Maximus Z790 Hero EVA-02 Edition, it looks properly menacing with the red and orange colour scheme and green highlights. The backplate features the EVA-02 Beast Mode and Evangelion patterns. There is also an Absolute Terror Field (A.T. Field) design around the CPU socket and the I/O cover that has Polymo lighting that switches between Asuka and the EVA-02.

As for the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 EVA-02 Edition graphics card, the fan shroud and right side of the card now sport the EVA-02 colours while the backplate now features art of Asuka. Speaking of graphics cards, the ROG Herculx EVA-02 Edition graphics card holder's stand is now styled to look like EVA-02's Progressive Knife.

While the ROG Hyperion EVA-02 Edition chassis does look really cool but in my humble opinion, it is a bit unfortunate that it has not been remoulded to look more like EVA-02's head or body. But, it is still a looker due to the red and orange colour scheme accentuated by green streaks. It even has an EVA-02-themed lighting panel that displays the Evangelion spirit. This lighting panel can even be displayed on the outside to make space for fans or Solid State Drives.

Now to truly make your epic EVA-02 gaming rig cool or cooler, there is the ROG Ryujin III 360 ARGB EVA-02 Edition AIO cooler that is adorned with Asuka-inspired artwork around its aluminium bezel. The Ryujin's 3.5-inch LED screen which displays hardware information is now preloaded with a collection of Asuka and EVA-02-themed animations.

Moving on to the peripherals, the ROG Strix Scope RX EVA-02 Edition keyboard's aluminium case has also been given the red and orange makeover with unique transparent keycaps for the Esc and F12 keys plus a dye-sub spacebar that features artwork of Asuka. On top of that, ROG will also be releasing EVA-02-themed keycaps, so you can truly complete the theme.

Finally, there is the ROG Gladius III Wireless Aimpoint EVA-02 edition mouse that features a fairly minimalist take on the overall theme with just a few flourishes that lets you know it is part of the ROG x Evangelion collaboration. Similar to the keycaps, ROG will also be releasing Evangelion-themed mouse grip tapes for the ROG Gladius and Harpe Ace mice.

As of this time of writing, Asus has only revealed the pricing and availability for the ROG Strix RTX 4090 EVA-02 Edition. It is priced at SGD3,659 (~MYR12,406) and will be available from Aug 8 at five of their retail partners — Dreamcore, Dynacore Technologies, Invader PC, Mansa PC and VIII PC Trade. The rest of the ROG x Evangelion collection will be available later in August.

We are also waiting on information regarding when this collection will be available in Malaysia, so we will update this article when we have received all the relevant information.
