In this second episode of My Gamer Life, Valorant player Danial Hakim, also known as RedKoh, details the sacrifices he's made on the path of an esports athlete.
Danial told AsiaOne: "I feel like if you want to be the best, you have to sacrifice a lot to get there. And I don't regret sacrificing everything I've got to be the best."
Now signed under X10, a Thai esports organisation, the 23-year-old Singaporean competes in Valorant esports competitions as a player.
His next match is the VCT 2023 - Challengers League Malaysia & Singapore: Split 2 next week.
A former Singapore Sports School student who competed overseas for Singapore in table tennis, Danial gave up being a national player to pursue a career in esports.
"In video games, I kind of had more fun than sports in general," Danial shared. "So I was enjoying playing video games more, and tentatively, I started moving away from traditional sports."
Being a table tennis player exhausted him both mentally and physically while playing video games did not, he also said.
"And that's when I realised I would prefer being an esports athlete."
