We've been obsessed with WWE 2K25's upgraded GM Mode, so it's going to take a really good game in April to tear us away from booking Dominik Mysterio as our new WWE Champion.

Luckily, there are some serious contenders. Whether you're here for gripping stories, intense battles, or just some good old-fashioned fun, these are the must-play games of the month.

South of Midnight - PC, Xbox Series X|S

Release date: Apr 8

Get ready to dive into a dark and mesmerising world inspired by American Deep South folklore.

South of Midnight is a third-person action-adventure game where you play as Hazel, a young woman who must embrace her role as a Weaver – someone who mends broken bonds and restless spirits. Expect eerie encounters, mythical creatures, and visuals reminiscent of stop-motion animation.

Fingers crossed for a PS5 release.

Commandos: Origins - PC, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Series X|S

Release date: Apr 9

Time to put your skills you learned in NS to the test!

Commandos: Origins takes players back to World War II, reviving the classic stealth-strategy gameplay with modern refinements. Control six elite soldiers across 10 missions set in historically accurate locations, using careful planning and teamwork to outsmart enemies.

And the best part? You can even tackle missions with a friend in local co-op!

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage - Tape 2 - PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

Release date: Apr 15

From the creators of Life is Strange comes another gripping narrative adventure.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage transports players to a small Michigan town where four childhood friends reunite to confront a buried secret. With choices that shape the story and emotional depth at its core, this is one to watch for fans of interactive dramas.

Pro tip: play the first part before jumping into this one for the full experience.

LUNAR Remastered Collection - PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch

Release date: Apr 18

Retro JRPG fans, it's time to relive the golden days of 90s gaming.

This remastered collection brings LUNAR: Silver Star Story and LUNAR 2: Eternal Blue back to life with enhanced graphics, improved audio, and modern quality-of-life updates. Follow Alex's journey to become a Dragonmaster and Hiro's epic quest 1000 years later to save the world alongside the enigmatic Lucia.

If you've got a soft spot for retro RPGs with heart, this one's a must-play.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves - PC, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S

Release date: Apr 24

After 26 years, the old-school fighting game series Fatal Fury is finally back with City of the Wolves, bringing classic characters like Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui into the spotlight once more.

Expect fast-paced fights, the return of beloved mechanics like Just Defense (now upgraded to Hyper Defense), and the brand-new Rev System that allows for even flashier combos.

Plus, there are guest appearances from Street Fighter icons Ken Masters and Chun-Li, as well as a certain Portugese football legend — Cristiano Ronaldo! There's even a single-player RPG mode to unlock more customisation options for your favourite characters.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

Release date: Apr 24

Turn-based RPGs are becoming rare gems, but Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is here to remind us why we love them.

Developed by French studio Sandfall Interactive, this visually stunning game follows a group of heroes battling the Paintress, a mysterious entity who "paints" a number each year – signifying the age of those who will perish.

With a mix of Final Fantasy and Persona influences, this could be a sleeper hit for RPG fans.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy - PC, Nintendo Switch

Release date: Apr 24

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy follows Takumi Sumino and his fellow students as they battle monstrous School Invaders over 100 in-game days.

Strategic combat, decision-driven storytelling, and a unique Voltage meter mechanic that powers up attacks make this a promising addition to the genre. Every choice matters in the story mode, with 100 distinctively different endings available.

Forza Horizon 5 - PlayStation 5 (previously released on PC, Xbox One, Series X|S)

Release date: Apr 29

The award-winning open-world racing game is finally making its way to PS5.

Take your dream cars on a wild ride across stunning Mexican landscapes, from dense jungles to sun-soaked beaches. With dynamic weather, thrilling races, and endless customisation options, Forza Horizon 5 is a must-play for petrolheads – you can race cross-play against your Xbox friends too.
