Ladies and gents, spring has arriveth. And as we come close to the end of the first quarter of (a very hectic) 2020, you might be thinking: where art thou, consumer electronic sales?

Alas, March’s expected big tech bonanza, IT Show, has been postponed in view of the coronavirus outbreak — a good thing really, considering the whole deadly viral infection thing.

But as always, the show must go on. In lieu of a packed bonanza at a convention hall, Lazada is offering a comfier shopping experience in the great indoors with deeply discounted electronics in its Online Tech Show.

Customers can expect up to 80 per cent of storewide discounts from over 1,000 brands on the e-commerce platform when the sale kicks off from March 12 to 16, with attractive deals from the likes of Apple, Samsung, Dyson and more to be snagged.

Lazada will reward you with even more gizmos the more you buy stuff during the Online Tech Show. The top 50 spenders will have the opportunity to win over $16,000 worth of prizes from a pool of high-end items, including a thousand-dollar Yale digital door lock, a 43-inch LG TV, and a robot vacuum cleaner.

Not payday yet, you say? Understandable. But there is a way to affordably upgrade your old devices, and it’s called trading in your ancient wares. Online Tech Show has a programme that’ll let you receive cold hard cash if you manage to trade in used devices that might be lying around the house, like old smartphones, tablets and laptops. There’s even a free pick-up service for the items to be collected and valued before the amount is given to customers in the form of money — not Lazada vouchers.

With that newfound cash, what, pray tell, are the things worth buying during the course of the five-day sale?

Check out below on some of the best deals that you simply can't afford to miss.

Razer Blade 15 Advance Model (RTX 2080)

$4,679 $3,344.90

The world’s best (and most portable) gaming laptop is ridiculously powerful, but so is the price. At a cool $4,679 for the refreshed 512GB model with Nvidia’s RTX graphic cards, it’s totally fair if you have to think twice (or thrice) to invest that much in something this intense.

With the Online Tech Show though, you don’t have to hesitate — you can grab one at $3,479.90, which will be slashed further to $3,344.90 if you utilise the $135 voucher offered for this model. Suddenly, it’s a perfectly reasonable price for a laptop that can push modern games well over 60fps with maxed-out graphics through a screen with a buttery-smooth 240Hz refresh rate. A bit of an overkill if you’re just crunching numbers on Microsoft Excel really, but always good to know that you can run video and photo processing programs at a much faster rate.

Logitech MX Master 3

$169 $148.70

Speaking of going overkill for productivity, here’s the best wireless mouse for your computer. Logitech’s series of MX Master mice have long been considered the de facto finest ones money can buy, and the latest version manages to top everything that came before. And it costs $148.70 during the Online Tech Show, a good 12 per cent cheaper than its usual retail price of $169.

Ergonomically sculpted for extreme comfort with better layouts for easier access to its eight programmable buttons, it’s no surprise that everyone considers the MX Master 3 the best companion for work. It’s able to connect to multiple computers (if you’re one of those people), it’s able to work on any surface (including glass), and it still has that trademark MagSpeed scroll wheel that automatically adjusts from scrolling line-by-line to scrolling infinitely when the wheel goes into a free spin. Oh, and it stays powered for up to 70 days on a full charge, so you don’t have to worry about keeping the wireless mouse tethered on the regular.

Klipsch T5 True Wireless

$349 $289

For the non-audiophiles among us, Klipsch is a brand renowned for its high-fidelity personal audio hardware, a brand used by musicians and audio engineers across the world for in-ear monitors perfect for live performances and studio mixing. But now, you too can get audio quality fit for the pros (without bothering with cables too) thanks to Klipsch’s first wireless earbuds

As fancy as the sleek brushed metal battery case may be, the $349 might be a hurdle, especially since Apple’s own AirPods Pro with active noise cancelling (ANC) capabilities is just $30 more. But at $289 during the Online Tech Show, the earbuds are practically a steal.

Sony WF-H800 h.ear in 3

$299 $279

A far as wireless earbuds are concerned, Sony is running circles around everyone with their vastly superior WF-1000XM3. The company then announced that it was planning to release a cheaper version of their flagship ANC earbuds sometime soon. But the thing is, the Sony WF-H800 is not confirmed to be the aforementioned cheaper version, but it literally is more affordable. It’s $279 at the Online Tech Show if you use the $20 voucher.

And colourful too! These buds come in orange, black, blue, red and a very classy ash green. Aesthetics aside, it’s a lot less bulky than the XM3s, and boasts a “tri-hold” structure that’s ergonomically designed for a secure, comfortable fit in your ears. No ANC here, sadly, but perhaps the snug fit and its patented spatial audio technology will offer enough noise isolation for your needs.

Fitbit Versa 2

$318 $255

Singaporeans are one of the worst sleepers in the world — them’s just the facts. But with the Versa 2 smartwatch, Fitbit wants to change how the country can slumber for the better. The company’s Southeast Asia Regional Director Louis Lye told us before that the watch will provide actionable, easy-to-understand data for its users to get better sleep cycles.

This, on top of being a top-notch fitness gadget that can track activities and workouts while also alert you with notifications from your smartphone. And it’s well worth it during the Online Tech Show, where it’ll cost just $255, more than $60 cheaper than usual.

Tineco A10 Vacuum cleaner

$499 $169

It’s no Dyson for sure, but the Tineco A10 Hero cordless vacuum cleaner is helluva lot cheaper. For some reason, it’s the most beloved cordless stick vacuum on Amazon too, with over 3,000 reviews and currently averaging four out of five stars on the site.

But what do people actually love about it? Combing through the reviews, it offers a surprisingly powerful suction level, a quiet enough motor that won’t annoy pets, and a detachable battery pack, among other features. But the best part is its wallet-friendly price, which is going for as low as $199 during the Online Tech Show (or $169 if you manage to snag a $30 voucher during the live stream)

JBL PartyBox 100

$499 $399

Be the party animal that you’re meant to be with JBL’s lineup of giant boomboxes that can connect via bluetooth or hook them up to guitars and microphones. The JBL PartyBox 100 is the smallest unit in the series, but it’s also the most compact one, making it a fun little portable speaker to bring to gatherings. Inbuilt RGB strobe lights will flash along to the music for that disco party feel, and you can literally go wild all night long with the 12-hour battery life.

The Online Tech Show will slash $100 off its usual price, and $399’s worth the price of entry to be the life of a party.

Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch with Touch Bar

$3,999 $3,646

The 16-inch take on Macbook Pro is proof that Apple does listen to its fans and critics — finally, a Macbook Pro that deserves its pro title and a Macbook Pro that should have been available for a long time coming. Keyboard issues? Fixed. Thermal dissipation problems? Solved. Battery capacity? Huge. Retina screen? Gorgeous and gigantic. Ports? Still no SD card slot, but whatever.

But as with all Apple products, the cost is always stomach-churning. Fortunately, the Online Tech Show offers a slight reprieve in that department — it’s $3,646 for the base model, which is honestly powerful enough with a 2.3GHz 8-core 9th-generation Intel Core i9 processor, 16GB Ram, 1TB of SSD storage and an AMD Radeon Pro 5500M graphics card. It’s a $353 discount from the usual price, but honestly, when else are you getting this good a deal from Apple themselves?
