With how badly the Covid-19 outbreak has affected the entertainment industry, more delays of upcoming launches are only to be expected.

That doesn't mean the news is necessarily easier to bear, however, as the game industry sees the indefinite release of Naughty Dog's much-anticipated game The Last of Us II.

The game studio took to Twitter to drop an explanation, stating that the apocalyptic title is very near to completion, but the current economic situation and other logistical factors have disrupted their initial plan for a May 29 debut.

This was also conveyed in an official statement accompanying the announcement:

"The good news is, we're nearly done with the development of The Last of Us Part II.

"However, even with us finishing the game, we were faced with the reality that due to logistics beyond our control, we couldn't launch The Last of Us Part II to our satisfaction.

"We want to make sure everyone gets to play The Last of Us Part II around the same time, ensuring that we're doing everything possible to preserve the best experience for everyone.

"This meant delaying the game until such a time where we can solve these logistic issues."

It's not all bad news: The fact that The Last of Us Part II is almost ready to go means we're one step closer to reliving that great emotional, masterful narrative journey again.

More importantly, Naughty Dog has unveiled a new host of delicious, breathtaking screenshots on their website for some positivity and optimism, some of which may be viewed below:
