The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has always been filled with magical wonder, but beneath the dazzle and fantasy, it’s sometimes easy to forget that there’s a darker side to the sorcery.
The newest trailer of Hogwarts Legacy dishes out that reminder, unleashing new footage that sees students investigating the roots of Salazar Slytherin, encountering dark magic, and fighting off zombies.
Revealed at Gamecom’s Opening Night Live event, it shows two students exploring Slytherin’s catacombs and deciding who should have Crucio cast on them. It’s a terrifying choice, because the torture curse can inflict excruciating pain on a victim and cause them to scream in agony. In lore, using the spell is punishable by a life sentence in Azkaban, so suffice to say, things quickly spin out of control after the point in the trailer.
The pair have to fight their way through zombies and a troll, but later ends up being caught by a faculty staff, who reprimands them for snooping around. The game also offered a look at a Deluxe Edition bonus, which packs in the following contents:
Hogwarts Legacy is now slated to arrive on Feb 10, 2023 after being delayed from its original Holiday 2022 release. Set long before the events of the Harry Potter films, the open-world title sees players spending time in classes, exploring Hogwarts, and fighting magical creatures. It has stirred up discussion over its connection to author J.K. Rowling, but Warner Bros has confirmed that she isn’t directly involved with the project.
