Infinity pools may look like infinite, but they’re really not. Though it may seem like the water is flowing endlessly into the horizon, it’s just an illusion — the water spills into a catch basin at the edge of the pool.
Arguably the most photogenic infinity pool in the world, the one located at the top of Marina Bay Sands is a popular spot for tourists and Instagrammers. And foolhardy TikTokkers too, like this dude.

From that angle, it looked like the man had precariously stepped on the furthest edge of the building and flipped right back into the pool. Which seems like a life-risking stunt, considering that it looked like he could have slipped and fallen 57 floors off the ledge.
Truth is, there’s a catchment area, so it’s impossible to swim straight into the city skyline. Still, that TikTok stunt is pretty dangerous though. One wrong step and he could’ve nosedived into the trough below with a bloody head for his troubles. Even TikTok had to input the disclaimer: "The action in this video could result in serious injury".
And because not a lot of folks know that the pool doesn’t end at the edge of the building, the antic caused a bit of alarm online. Commenters expressed their distress over the TikTok clip, assuming that it was a life-threatening shenanigan.
In any case, it won't be surprising if a lifeguard booted the man out of the pool immediately after the flip.
