Despite recent developments, Ubisoft‘s long-gestating Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development, at least, according to the company.
This news should come as small comfort for players waiting for the sequel, especially when Ubisoft has only recently shared that the company has cancelled three unannounced games, while once again delaying Skull & Bones. The cancellations follow after poor financial results for the past year, with the company looking to reconsider their approach to its portfolio.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Ubisoft has stated that work continues on Beyond Good & Evil 2, and that “development is underway and the team is hard at work to deliver on its ambitious promise.”

As a game that was announced more than 15 years ago, Beyond Good & Evil 2 currently holds the record for having the longest development period for an AAA game. Years of dormancy eventually gave way to the reveal at E3 2017, when renewed efforts of development were revealed.
More than five years on, we still have not seen anything substantial about the game, with Ubisoft going quiet. The last update was shared in August 2022, with Sarah Arellano joining the project as lead writer from Blizzard. While it may not be cancelled, Beyond Good & Evil 2 looks like something that still remains a pipedream.
