Xiaomi announced the release of its latest Redmi phones in Singapore: the Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12, and the mid-entry-level smartphone Redmi 12C.
The wallet-friendly Redmi Note 12 5G and Redmi Note 12 offer significant improvements for the features that matter most: the camera system, battery life, charging speed, and user-friendly design.
For under $400, you get a super-smooth 120Hz Amoled display with DCI-P3 coverage and 1,200 nits peak brightness, which is pretty impressive. Processor-wise, it’s either the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 (Note 12 5G) or Snapdragon 685 (Note 12) SoC. On top of that, you have a triple camera setup with the usual AI-powered enhancements.
The Note 12 is also rated for IP53 resistance against the elements and supports 33W fast charging for its 5,000mAh battery. The result is a package that if Xiaomi’s track record is anything to go by, punches above its weight in the price department.
The cheaper Redmi 12C uses a MediaTek Helio G85 processor and supports up to 6+5GB extended RAM (by using idle ROM space), and 1TB storage extension (with a microSD card). You also get a large 6.71″ HD+ display albeit with far more modest specs. You only have one rear camera but at least it has a 50MP sensor. Battery capacity is also 5,000mAh, but there’s no fast charging here.
All three devices will be available for purchase from 15 April at authorised Xiaomi stores, official retailers, and official e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and Lazada.
The Redmi Note 12 5G (8GB+256GB) and the Redmi Note 12 (6GB+128GB) are priced at SGD 369 and SGD 269 respectively, and both come with a free Redmi Buds 4 Lite (while stocks last) as part of the launch promotion. The Redmi 12C will be available in two variants – 4GB+128GB (SGD 179) and 6GB+128GB (SGD219).
M1 customers can own the Redmi Note 12 and Xiaomi Robot Vacuum (worth SGD 269) at only SGD 70 a month with M1’s Base plan of SGD 59.95/mth, which includes 30GB + 300 mins + 300 SMS, as part of the exclusive bundle promotion, which starts from April 22, 2023.
