Dua Lipa has branded Britpop stars "obnoxious" for some of their behaviour in the Nineties.

When asked for her thoughts on rants by the likes of Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn against female artists such as Adele and Taylor Swift, the 28-year-old Houdini singer also warned there is "so much toxicity" in the way people wanted musicians to behave in the wild era.

Dua told the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine: "I haven't had any encounters with them (Noel and Damon), actually.

"Sometimes you have to separate the art from the person… it's more like the music element, the aspect of it that I'm really connected to.

"The way that [some Britpop artists and past musicians] acted, the things that they've done, they're obnoxious for sure. That's their whole thing."

When Dua's interviewer said the likes of Noel, 56, and Damon, 55, "seem to represent a certain version of toxic rock masculinity", she replied: "There's so much toxicity in the way people wanted their artists or their musicians in the past.

"If they weren't like that, they would've been seen as boring, and I think that's such a bad way to see things."

Noel has said Taylor Swift, 34, isn't a good songwriter and has branded Adele's music "for grannies".

Damon has said Taylor doesn't write her songs and branded Adele, 35, "middle of the road" after his failed collaboration with her on her 2015 album 25.

During a chat with Rolling Stone in 2015, Noel was told Taylor is known for her songwriting talents, prompting him to sneer: "Who says that? Her parents…name these people. You're lying. She seems like a nice girl but no one has ever said those words, and you know it."
