Father's Day 2019: Here's how celebrities paid tribute to their dads

Father's Day is here! For many of us, it's a day to honour and celebrate our dads.

This Father's Day, celebrities were no exception as they took to social media to pay tribute to the father figures in their lives.

We've put together the most wholesome posts for your viewing pleasure. Keep scrolling for touching photos and sweet messages from your favourite stars.

ZOE TAY

Zoe, who's known for not posting her kids' faces on social media, shared a rare photo of her family enjoying the sunset in the Maldives along with a humorous message to her husband, pilot Philip Chionh.

She refers to her three sons, aged between eight and 14, as "cockroaches" that make her husband's head spin.

There is little wonder then, that the actress has not made the switch to be a stay-at-home mum.

She told Young Parents earlier this year, "(I would rather) be the actress that I am now. At the same time, I've also always dreamt of being a stay-at-home mum to take care of my kids. For now, working is still better. It can get a little stressful staying at home, facing the children."

Her three boys must be quite a handful!

FANN WONG

Although it came a day late, Fann Wong's Father's Day tribute to hubby Christopher Lee "still counts."

She wrote, "Rain or shine, you are always there. My pillar of strength and support."

In a series of photos, their four-year-old son Zed is seen happily seated on Christopher's shoulders while the family enjoyed a day out at Caversham Wildlife Park in Australia.

This Father's Day is special for Xu Bin as it's his first.

The actor and his wife, Wang Yifei, welcomed a son, known affectionately as Xiao Mu Mu, in July 2018.

The happy couple had previously told Toggle that they would consider a second child after Xiao Mu Mu turns one or two.

Could Xiao Mu Mu be getting a sibling soon? Only time will tell.

CHEN HAN WEI

Chen Hanwei posted a selfie with his father crediting the ex-teacher for his strong values as a person.

Chen is known for his filial piety and for sparing no expense pampering his parents.

The actor told 8DAYS that he spends at least $30,000 when he goes on vacations with his folks.

He said, "Being filial isn’t something to brag about. It's how every child should be.”

Way to spoil the market for the rest of us!

SUHAIMI YUSOF

LEE CHONG WEI

The legendary badminton player updated fans with an adorable post featuring sons Kingston and Terrance, wishing all fathers a happy Father's Day.

It was definitely a relief to see Lee enjoying a low-key Father's Day with his two munchkins after his emotional retirement last week.

The family man, who never fails to share family photos during festive occasions, can finally spend more time with his children after hanging up his racket.

After all, isn't that the greatest prize in life?

REBECCA LIM

Rebecca shared a cute throwback shot of her family on Instagram.

That's a little Rebecca on the right, on her pink bike! It's always adorable when celebrities share a glimpse of their childhood.

The actress, who is close to her parents, says that she'd like to live with her parents even after marriage.

ZHENG GEPING

Zheng Geping shared a selfie paying tribute to his late father.

Both of his children, Tay Ying and Calvert, also posted their own lighthearted dedications to him on their Instagram pages.

Tay Ying also shared a candid video of her father helping to massage a bruise on her ankle, capturing Geping in a quintessential Singaporean dad moment.

The singer celebrated Father's Day with a five-minute slideshow of family pictures featuring her husband, Datuk Khalid and their one-year-old daughter, Aafiyah.

The intimate video shows the chubby-cheeked Aafiyah babbling and giving her dad kisses.

The singer also showed off her legendary voice in a clip of her singing the birthday song to her daughter.

After years of trying, the couple had little Aafiyah after going through IVF.

While Datuk Khalid has several sons, this Father's Day must be especially sweet with his first daughter by his side.

Allan Wu and his kids, Sage and Jonas, were all smiles in this picture, showing off their family resemblance.

Allan, who went through a divorce with media personality Wong Li-Lin in 2013, tries his best to juggle work and spending time with his kids.

He told Smart Parents, "As long as I'm in town, I'll try to see them almost every single day. It may only be an hour or two sometimes, but I try to make it count."

TAUFIK BATISAH

[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BywYuXmnJqw/[/embed]

Singer and F&B entrepreneur Taufik marked the occasion with a multi-generational photo of the fathers in his family.

He said, "Happy Father's Day for all Dad, Abah, Baba, Papa, Daddy, who are always working hard to give the best for their families. We salute you! I pray that I will be a dad like you."

BEN YEO

[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/Bywe1XHgmP7/[/embed]

Seeing triple? That's Ben Yeo and his sons Jarius and Javier.

While it's rare to find dads that cook for their kids, Ben Yeo takes it one step further.

The actor, who owns several restaurants, regularly cooks for his two sons, and has even has authored several cookbooks for picky children, inspired by his kids.

He even lets them help him out in the kitchen. Guess the family that cooks together, stays together.

CHEN XIUHUAN

The veteran actress shared a family picture, thanking her husband for his effort in supporting the family.

She also made a hilarious pun on Father's Day (父情节) and payment day (付清节), which sound similar in Chinese.

While fathers do make sacrifices to support their families, Chen Xiuhuan is no stranger to sacrifices herself.

The actress left showbiz in 1995 to become a full-time housewife.

In fact, her three daughters had no idea that she was a celebrity until she made her return to TV in 2005.

JOSEPH SCHOOLING

[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/ByxkPOXhW_9/[/embed]

Swimmer Joseph Schooling posted this old picture of him and his dad Colin at the Bird's Nest in Beijing -- a fitting backdrop given how his parents have supported his sporting career and Olympic dreams.

His mother May Schooling once told Straits Times that Joseph was on a "mama-papa scholarship", and estimates that the family has spent $1 million on Joseph's Olympic dream.

Parents - they'll do anything to make their kids' dreams a reality.

If you want to see more of this mini-mutton, what are you waiting for?

JOEL CHOO

[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BywcpIsnRyz/[/embed]

Actor Joel Choo paid tribute to his father, veteran actor Zhu Houren.

Joel shared a few retro shots of his father from TV series Mystery, which aired on Channel 8 in 1988.

Perhaps it was his father that inspired Joel to go into acting?

The young actor has appeared in Channel 8 longform drama Jalan Jalan alongside stars like Chew Chor Meng and Lin Meijiao. We can't wait to see more from him.

TAN KHENG HUA

[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BywNcBUHqiv/[/embed]

Tan Kheng Hua penned a moving message to her late father, ending off with this beautiful sentiment, "You never left, Papa. You're always here. What would you say about that? Happy Fathers Day. I love you."

The actress was cast the 2018 box office hit Crazy Rich Asians and is now signed with top talent agencies in the UK and Hollywood.

While her Hollywood advancement is taking shape, it's not a stretch to say that her late father would definitely be incredibly proud of her.

BENJAMIN HENG

[embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/ByEpuHCHdyO/[/embed]

For actor Benjamin Heng, it is a poignant Father's Day.

His wife Michelle passed away in her sleep a few days ago on June 14.

Despite the tragedy, Benjamin is staying strong for his family.

In an Instagram post, he made a promise to his late wife to raise their daughter Sophie to be the best that she can be.

While Father's Day is a festive occasion for many, it can also be bittersweet for those who have lost their fathers.

If you're lucky enough to have an awesome dad who's still in your life, don't forget to show them some love.

And don't just do it on Father's Day - show them that you care every day.
