Gillian Chung once put on nine kilos and was at her heaviest two years ago, before she met her husband. But it wasn't from over-eating or lack of exercise.
In 2016, the Cantopop star made a choice to go through oocyte cryopreservation (egg freezing) in order to preserve her fertility, said her manager in reports then.
Gillian recently attributed the cause of her weight gain to the surge in hormones in preparation for the procedure.
She revealed this at the Asian Film Awards anniversary dinner held on Mar 19, where she was asked by reporters if bandmate Charlene Choi was also going to freeze her eggs before her rumoured wedding later this year.
The 38-year-old singer-actress added that Hong Kong celebrity Joey Yung would be the best person to go to for advice, as she did not gain any weight despite undergoing the same procedure.
Fans have also noticed that the star's face has been looking a little fuller after her marriage to Taiwanese doctor Michael Lai in December last year.

They left comments about her looks in a recent Instagram post (below), speculating if there could be a bun in the oven.

Or, a slower metabolism may be to blame.

Gillian lamented at the event that exercise for her is no longer as effective as it was in the past, proving to everyone again that celebrities are just as human as we are.
A girl with a large appetite, she said: "I used to eat seven meals a day… and everything on my plate will be finished.
"Now I've switched to eating just one meal a day. My husband is also dieting and he eats light and healthy meals. On the other hand, I prefer food with stronger flavours".
