[UPDATE Feb 26] Liv Lo is back on Instagram after an almost two-week hiatus following her brother Sam's passing.

Liv sent a message "to explain and [give an] update on how I'm feeling" in an almost seven-minute Instagram TV post today (Feb 26) while in Los Angeles with her hubby Henry Golding for the Oscars.

"When I first heard the news [of my brother's passing], I was definitely in a terrible shock. I dropped everything immediately to get to his side -- he's in Hong Kong -- to take on the responsibilities for our family," said the exhausted-looking 33-year-old, adding that she was so thankful that she was able to do so.

The host and fitness star was also thankful for all the condolence messages that she has received with regards to the Instagram post of her brother's passing.

"[That] may be alot to share on social media, especially since I don't know many of you personally, but I hope that from my experience, you can learn as well," she said.

Time is precious

"What I have learnt ultimately from his untimely passing is that time is precious -- it really, really is, every moment we have is truly precious," Liv said.

In the past, Liv spent five hours a day on social media, and was "the kind of girl who would have a glass of wine every night."

Now, the star limits her social media time to just two hours a day, and has stopped drinking altogether.

"I may hold a glass at events... but I've had such clarity since not drinking. This is crazy to say, but I thought I was only going to stop drinking when I'm pregnant, but something like this has just changed my life," she revealed.

"I don't cite social media or alcohol as [a] reason for his passing, but it's the way that I have come to understand that I really need to be more healthy and improve few areas of my life -- I think that he (Sam) would have wanted that of me," added Liv, who already eats well and works out a tonne judging by her Instagram feed.

Here's the full video of her update:

Henry Golding's wife Liv Lo posts heart-wrenching message about brother's sudden, tragic death

Get your tissues ready -- we're barely through the first quarter of 2019, but already we have seen the tragic passing of actor Aloysius Pang and Ben Goi, husband of former actress Tracy Lee.

And TV presenter Liv Lo, who is married to Crazy Rich Asian star Henry Golding, is the bearer of another sad news.

On Monday (Feb 18), the 33-year-old revealed on Instagram that her brother Sam Lo has passed on.

"Losing you my brother has been the hardest thing I have had to endure. More than sickness or pain. There are no words to describe the love I have for you," wrote Liv on Instagram.

Along with the heart-wrenching dedication to Sam were a series of photos of the siblings taken over the recent years.

Liv went on and wrote about her role as an elder sister, and how she always felt it was her responsibility to travel to see him, to shop for him, to make sure he was taking care of himself.

His sudden death came as a shock to Liv, who "had so many questions and emotions" she could not fathom.

"To get through the shock, memorial, funeral, cremation, and mourning I investigated into the moments leading up to your tragic passing. When someone suddenly leaves your life, you need to find a reason why. Why would you leave without saying goodbye? How did this happen and why?" She wrote.

Like a loved one would, she investigated and met those who interacted with Sam daily, and it made her realise this: Sam was well-loved by many around him.

"I heard stories of how you touched peoples lives with your selflessness, your listening ear, your sense of humour, and diligent support. I grew to know you as the man I had always wanted you to be," shared Liv, adding that she is so proud of her brother.

Though what led to Sam's sudden, tragic passing was not revealed, Liv offered a bit of insight into it.

"The night of your passing you were celebrating life's success and madly in love. I understand that you were so acutely intoxicated that you may not have understood the consequences of your actions," she wrote.

The celebrity also shared how her brother's premature death has taught her some lessons.

"As a result, I have had to learn the lessons you left me. Life is short. Love with no shortage. Spend my time wisely. Oddly you have given me the confidence to pursue my fears and spend my time appreciating every precious moment and encounter," she bared it all.

Liv ended off with a heart-wrenching goodbye note: "I know I will see you again one day, if not in this life then the next. I will always love you Sam."

Our hearts go out to Liv Lo and her family.
