It's a boy! Xu Bin and wife welcome first baby

It's a boy for first-time parents Xu Bin, 28, and his wife Wang Yifei, 27. The China-born Singapore-based actor shared the news with 193,000 followers on his Instagram account on Tuesday (July 10).

"Little baby was in a hurry to meet everyone and arrived 20 days in advance," he wrote in Mandarin. His baby was born in China.

"I know you tried hard and wanted Baby to come out on the due date," he wrote to his wife in the post.

"Thank you for giving me this happy little family. Love you."

Xu met his wife at a friend's birthday party in Singapore more than three years ago, he said during a press conference last October to announce their marriage.

According to 8 Days, she was then studying hotel management at James Cook University here.

While she is a Beijing Film Academy graduate, she is not an actress and has no plans to enter show business, choosing instead to help in her family's property business, the Straits Time reported.

"I was definitely the one who was interested in her first, and I wanted to chase her. At the time, I hadn't been acting for very long, so I kept asking her for acting advice.

"She has watched my dramas, and she always says that I'm a terrible actor," he said with a laugh during the press conference.

The two held three wedding banquets - one in Singapore in November last year, and two more in January this year, in Xu's and Wang's respective hometowns of Fujian and Wuhan.

When they were dating, Xu had to keep their relationship a secret - and not just from the fans. He also had to hide the romance from his artiste manager, TV host Dasmond Koh, as he knew he was under strict orders not to date.

He is signed to Dasmond's agency NoonTalk Media. Like his fellow artiste-colleagues, Xu is not allowed to get romantically involved because Dasmond thinks it may distract them from their work.

The actor was last seen on Channel 8 drama Doppelganger, alongside Fann Wong and Christopher Lee. He is also known for his roles in popular Channel 8 dramas such as long-form sitcom 118 and nursing series You Can Be An Angel 2.

After marriage, the couple has been shuttling between Singapore and China. It is not known yet if they will raise their baby here.

Xu, who moved to Singapore 17 years ago, said during the press conference: "We'll be travelling all over - the world is very small. But this is home."
