It's Lin Chi-ling who got married, not me, jests Jimmy Lin (Chih-ying) about name mix-up

Which Taiwanese celebrity just got married? It's Lin Chi-ling, not Jimmy Lin Chih-ying.

Fans of the singer-actor have been tickled by a Chinese news outlet's typo, presumably made in haste to report the supermodel's marriage on Thursday (June 6).

The unnamed publication got the similar-sounding names wrong and the trending hashtag #LinChihYingsMarried was born on Weibo.

"Why has Jimmy married again?" a fan asked.

"I'm dying of laughter… (The report said) 'Lin Chih-ying and her husband met through a theatre production'," wrote another.

A fan elicited more laughter by hashtagging an old photo of Jimmy wearing a wedding veil during an appearance in a variety show.

All jokes aside, Jimmy was quick to clarify that there was a mix-up in the report.

"I've received congratulatory messages but I'm not the one who got married. It's sister Chi-ling! Here's wishing her much happiness!" the actor wrote in a Weibo post on the same day. Jimmy married Kelly Chen in 2009 and they have three sons.

On Thursday, the 44-year-old supermodel surprised fans and public alike with the sudden announcement that she's gotten hitched with Akira from Japanese boyband Exile.

And this is not the first time that the Chinese media has mixed up Jimmy's and Chi-ling's names.

In 2014, Jimmy posted a screenshot showing another instance where the media wrote his name instead of hers.

He poked fun at the typo at the time, saying "(They) can't tell the difference between Lin Chi-ling and Lin Chih-ying."

Oh, how embarrassing.
