You can't escape a sexy outfit on female video game characters.
It's a questionable sartorial choice that has seen a declining trend in recent years but it still pops up occasionally.
So, it was a little confusing to the internet when K-pop star Johyun was called out for her "revealing" cosplay despite it being a faithful replica.
Johyun was attending a red carpet event in Seoul for the upcoming South Korean TV e-sports show Game Dolympics 2019: Gold Card.
Dressed as Ahri (a half-fox, half-human character based on the mythical nine-tailed fox) from the popular video game, League of Legends, Johyun was sporting a bodysuit that showed off her busty cleavage and black thigh-high stockings held up by garters.

Her costume was based off the outfit Ahri wore as part of League of Legends' fictional K-pop group, K/DA.
According to Korean media, the star from K-pop girl band Berry Good was wearing an outfit deemed to be 'too revealing'.
However, the internet disagreed with fans rallying to her defence and praising its similarity to the original costume.
It was also reported that Berry Good's label clarified that the outfit was assigned to her by the event organisers.
In response to the controversy and her fans' encouragement, Johyun took to Instagram Stories and shared her thoughts.
She wrote: "I’m also human and a regular Korean woman whose emotions and thoughts waver as a result of criticism and words of support.
"I believe we should respect everyone regardless of their gender because we all grew up in different environments and think differently. I love everyone that is living in the same era as I am."
Incidentally, Johyun isn't the first K-pop star accused of showing too much skin. Here are some others who have been called out for their skimpy outfits.
HYOLYN AT THE 2018 KBS DRAMA AWARDS
Turning up in a tight, one-piece silver bodysuit that shocked audiences, Hyolyn was described by critics as "butt-naked". It probably didn't help her case much either that she put on a sexually charged performance too.
HWASA AT 2018 MNET ASIAN MUSIC AWARDS
During her performance at the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards, Mamamoo member Hwasa showed up in a skin-tight red outfit and thigh-high boots that had people talking.

During their concert in Hong Kong seven years ago, Girls' Generation's Tiffany and Taeyon weren't afraid to be provocative in corsets and thigh-high stockings for their performance of Lady Marmalade.
