The wait is finally over. No, we haven't defeated Covid-19 yet. But Singapore's favourite contractor is back with a new rap song to help us get through it.

Gov.sg dropped the song Singapore Be Steady! on March 22 which featured Gurmit Singh reprising his iconic Phua Chu Kang character, rallying Singaporeans to "be steady" and "don't play play".

The much-anticipated release came 17 years after PCK's first hit, the SAR-vivor rap.

In fact, Singaporeans wanted a new virus anthem so badly that the disappointment was palpable when Gov.sg and PCK released a public service announcement on Covid-19 last month instead of a song.

With everyone from the Ministry of Education to Liang Xi Mei releasing an anti-virus tune, PCK finally gave the people what they wanted with a fun new track.

While some of the advice PCK espoused echoed his SAR-vivor hit (use your brain!), the song also included new tips on fighting misinformation, urging Singaporeans to "check the source then share the news."

And he didn't forget to take a jab at panic buyers, telling them: "Just buy what you need, don't jam the queue."

The music video also featured Uncle Phua breaking it down on the dance floor and showing all of us that he's still got it before ending with a mic drop and a zinger: "Your mother never teach you ah?"

Now, can we get this on Spotify?
