Romeo Tan and Elvin Ng get into a car accident in Taiwan

One second, local actors Romeo Tan and Elvin Ng were in a taxi and the next, a 40-seater tour bus crashed into the back of their vehicle.

The accident occurred on Thursday (Aug 29) evening around 7pm and the actors suffered minor injuries.

Romeo and Elvin were in Taipei to promote their new drama, All Is Well.

"We’re generally fine, though we’ll probably feel the whiplash tomorrow morning,” Elvin, 38, told Toggle in an interview.

The taxi the actors were in had stopped at the traffic light when the vehicle was rear-ended by the bus. It was reported that the taxi's front and rear windscreens shattered from the impact.

Both of them were seated in the backseat and had buckled up their seat belts, thankfully.

Romeo, 34, shared: “Something hit us super hard from the back within seconds of us stopping at the traffic light. We were both looking at our phones and it happened out of nowhere, we didn’t have any time to react.”

Elvin added: “It felt like we were hit by a train. We didn’t know what it was, but I knew for sure that it wasn’t just another car.”

According to media reports, Elvin hit his head and his vision is slightly blurred. There's also bruising on his knee and elbow.

As for Romeo, he has bruises on his left knee and pain in his ankle and back.

The duo have not sought medical treatment yet because their injuries were minor.

“We’ll monitor our condition and if need be, we’ll visit the hospital tomorrow,” Elvin said.

The actors had gone ahead with their scheduled activities.

Elvin explained: “Xin Mei jie (Taiwanese host Pauline Lan) arranged for us to have dinner together so we decided to come here and assure them that we’re doing fine. We also had a live broadcast scheduled so we wanted to go ahead with it since we’re okay.

"They also reminded us that today is the last day of the (lunar) seventh month, so we just feel very lucky that we’re safe.”

Some people believe that a person is more likely to encounter unfortunate incidents during the lunar seventh month, also known as the Hungry Ghost Month.
