Phase 3 of post-Circuit Breaker is almost here and, if you’re planning for a weekend brunch with 7 of your favourite people, we’ve got you covered.
In my humble opinion, brunch is one of those social meals that was created because of adulting. Breakfast is too early because it is a cardinal sin to wake up at 7am on a weekend, and since lunch usually drags on till early evening, it’s difficult to plan a gym session or run errands later in the day.
Enter the concept of brunch, a meal that’s enjoyed between breakfast and lunch on weekends. What this means for busy socialites like us is that we get to sleep in until 10am, meet with our favourite people over a meal, go to the gym at 4pm and, still have ample time to meet bae for dinner at 6pm.
The greatest thing about brunch is that your ‘engines’ have fired up and you’re in the right mindspace to catch up with friends and share interesting anecdotes about how Karen’s negativity has been extremely tiresome this week or about the awkward lunch you had with Alex on Tuesday.
So, if you’re looking for a nice brunch place that serves up Insta-worthy plates or a boozy hotel brunch buffet, here are 10 great weekend brunch ideas to consider.

1. Wild Honey

The grandfather of all brunch places, and the one that made breakfast for dinner acceptable in Singapore, Wild Honey has been around for as long as I can remember.
You may be raising an eyebrow at their prices, but rest assured that you’re getting your money’s worth.
Here, servings are larger than usual. So, technically, you could order two mains to share if you’re visiting as a party of three or four.
What’s really impressive is that even though it’s been around for so long, Wild Honey has managed to maintain their standards, regardless of the store you visit, without skimping on portion or quality.
2. Common Man Coffee Roasters

Address: 22 Martin Road #01-00, Singapore 239058

The unmistakable scent of freshly-brewed coffee and the familiar cling clang of a busy cafe, walking into Common Man Coffee Roasters is like walking into a cafe in Australia or even Korea.
You can expect good coffee here, but what really makes them stand out from the rest is their food menu. Common Man Coffee Roasters tries to put a lighter and healthier spin to classic brunch menu items, so expect dishes like sauteed kale with egg white scramble, organic eggs benedict, crab salad and warm Asian grain bowl here.
The only downside is that they do not accept reservations (even for larger groups), so be prepared to queue up.
3. Toby’s Estate

If coffee is life and you can’t fathom starting a day without a good cuppa, then you’ll have to plan a visit to Toby’s Estate. Just how serious are they with coffee?
Well, its bar is tended by world-ranked baristas (not to be confused with the judiciary) and championship judges, and their beans are roasted on site.
Apart from your usual lattes, cappuccinos and long blacks, Toby’s Estate offers coffee aficionados the option to have their single origin coffee of the day brewed via siphon, chemex, Espro Press, Woodneck V60 dripper. How’s that for serious?
4. Columbus Coffee Co.

Address: 220 Upper Thomson Road, Singapore 574352
Contact: 6253 6024
A part of Atlas Coffeehouse, Columbus Coffee Co. is centrally located along Upper Thomson Road — a short 5-minute walk from the famous Thomson Roti Prata store. While they also take coffee seriously, it’s the food that keeps people coming back for more.
Here, you’ll be spoiled for choice as they offer brunch favourites like smoked salmon eggs Benedict, breakfast steak and eggs and giant banana butterscotch pancakes, to heartier plates that include summer chicken stew, wagyu cheese burger and cereal prawn pasta.
5. The Populus Coffee & Food Co

Address: 146 Neil Road, Singapore 088875

Just off the main stretch of Korean BBQ restaurants along Tanjong Pagar is where you will find The Populus Coffee & Food Co. Their coffee beans are sourced from local roaster 2° North Coffee Co, which is known to have roasted coffee beans for barista championships and many local cafes.
Here, you get to pick and choose from a list of caffeine concoctions that include black, white, mocha, Gibraltar, a selection of cold brew options and seasonal filtered coffee that changes frequently.
Apart from coffee, they also have a wide variety of food items that range from all-day breakfasts to burgers, pastas, salads and even grain bowls — making this a great place to dine at if you’ve got a picky eater in your group.
