Flying cars may not be a thing yet, but that certainly didn't stop one woman in Malaysia from driving her car into an airport in Terengganu.
The 55-year-old woman drove her car past the automatic glass doors at Sultan Mahmud Airport (LTSM) and into the airport's arrival hall at 4.30pm on Mar 11, said local media.
The automatic doors opened as the car approached, Che Sulaiman Che Pa, a manager at the airport, explained.
Despite staff members' attempts to stop the driver, she made it through the doors and stopped the vehicle on the ground floor of the building.
The woman, who was uninjured, then sat in the silver Perodua Kancil as airport staff tried to convince her to turn off the engine and exit the vehicle.
After an hour of coaxing, the woman finally opened her car door and allowed airport staff to remove her car keys. But she refused to get out, forcing them to push the vehicle out of the building with her still in it, said Sulaiman.
"This incident was beyond our expectations. Therefore, LTSM will increase its security, including working with the police to prevent such cases in the future while ensuring the safety of our customers," he told reporters in Malay.
A spokesperson for the local civil defence department told reporters that they had received a call for assistance at 5.36pm.
The woman departed the scene in an ambulance and was handed over to the police, the spokesperson said.
Local police are currently investigating the incident.
The unusual sight quickly made its rounds on Malaysian social media, sparking confusion and several creative conjectures.
No injuries or damages were reported in relation to the incident.
