Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will be leading the People's Action Party (PAP) team for Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC, against the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP).

His team include incumbents Senior Minister of State for Manpower Zaqy Mohamad, Mayor of North West District Alex Yam and Hany Soh.

During a doorstop at the nomination centre at Jurong Pioneer Junior College today (April 23), Yam thanked residents in the GRC for their support over the last few years.

"We understand that there are global headwinds that we are facing. We'll do our best to support you through all the difficulties and challenges that you have.

"And ultimately, the decision lies with our voters."

SDP will field party stalwart Jufri Salim, alternative news site founder Wake Up Singapore Ariffin Sha, theatre director Alec Tok and Dr Gigene Wong.

During a speech to their supporters, Tok mentioned that SDP has contested the GRC thrice in a row and that they are "ready" for the upcoming election.

Jufri was the last among his party members to deliver a speech, saying: "Don't wait for change, be the change. We want to thrive, not just survive."

During the 2020 General Election, PAP garnered 63.18 per cent of votes against SDP.

SDP also lost in the 2015 election to PAP, getting 31.27 per cent of the votes.

The constituency will have 119,352 voters in the upcoming election on May 3.
