You can totally catch Detective Pikachu in Pokemon GO right now

Pokemon GO is celebrating the release of Detective Pikachu with a themed event.

To celebrate the release of the Ryan Reynolds-starring movie, players will be able to collect double XP for catching Pokemon and have the chance to capture a Pikachu wearing a detective hat whilst taking Augmented Reality photos. Plus, there'll be themed Field Research and brand new avatar outfits in the Style Shop.

Developers Niantic says Pokemon will be featured more frequently during the raids.

They said: "Get your detective hats ready and start looking for clues as we celebrate the one and only Pokémon Detective Pikachu movie! Do you have what it takes to keep up with the famous caffeine-powered detective who's about to electrify audiences all over the world?"

Detective Pikachu is now available to capture in-game till May 17.
