Music industry veteran Kuo Po firmly believes that in the darkest of times, music is a soothing balm. It helps us to soldier on and stay rooted in our show of support for those who are serving selflessly.

And with the help of 39 young performers — aged between five and 15 years of age from local performing arts school Academie of Stars (AOS) — she recently launched a touching song titled 'If Not For You', dedicated to all frontliners and healthcare staff fighting Covid-19.

She wrote the music and lyrics in three days before roping in 79 young students who turned up in separate groups to film for the music video.

AOS, which accepts kids aged three onwards, offers holistic programmes in music, singing, acting, dance, and communications that lead to international certifications.

Kuo Po, the Creative Director and CEO of the academy, added: "It is almost impossible to stay positive in this climate. As a school though, I felt it was immensely important that we do something within our means to battle this negativity.

"Making music has been my life and it is the same for many Academie of Stars students who are passionate about music. This music video is our little gesture of appreciation and show of support for the many who are battling this invisible threat on the frontline, and I am very touched by the solidarity and support shown by our students and parents."

One of the performers in the music video Zachary Lim, six, added: "Everyone everywhere is talking about Covid-19 that will make us very sick. I am scared as we can't see it. But when teacher Kuo Po asked us to be in this music video, I was so excited. I hope the song can cheer on the many brave aunties and uncles fighting this virus."
