It could go down as one of the greatest mysteries in history. One that might even baffle the brilliant Sherlock Holmes.

What are we referring to? Why, the identity of Cecilia Cheung's baby daddy, of course.

The birth of her third son (nicknamed "Little Prince") last November has been rife with speculation as tinfoil hat-wearing members of the public were quick to toss some names into the proverbial ring.

From Chinese director and actor Stephen Chow, to ex-husband Nicholas Tse and an unknown 65-year-old Singaporean tycoon, a worthy line-up of candidates was trotted out.

And just when people thought the mystery would be solved when an alleged copy of the baby's birth certificate surfaced, it turned out that the child's father wasn't listed at all.

Cecilia has also refused to respond to any speculation since the birth.

However, on Saturday (March 16), it was reported that Cecilia kept mum on the subject because she had already called it quits with the father long before their son was born.

A source close to her said: "The reason why Cecilia only announced the birth of her son but didn't disclose the identity of the father was because she had already broken up with him."

When the news about her rumoured split broke, Cecilia published a message on her Instagram.

She wrote: "If you focus on the beautiful and positive things in life, you'll attract beautiful and positive things in your life.

"Conversely, if you insist on focusing on the bad and negative things in life, then you'll attract more negativity in your life."

It's not certain what Cecilia means and fans can only wonder what that post is referring to.

Perhaps, that is just another mystery to add to the list.
