Jessie J wins Chinese singing competition I Am Singer

If you haven't heard, Jessie J recently joined Chinese reality TV singing competition I Am Singer, topping the first episode of the show.

Last week, she made history as the first non-Asian to be the overall winner of the sixth season of the show.

I Am Singer is a reality TV competition where singers from various countries come together to pit their skills against each other. This season's lineup included veteran singer Wang Feng, Angela Zhang, and Filipino singer KZ Tandingan.

Jessie consistently placed in the top three spots throughout the season. She became the first singer to clinch the top spot for three consecutive weeks when the season was first aired. She eventually beat out the competition to claim the top spot in the final episode.

On a previous episode, Wang Feng sung praises for Jessie, saying, "If a child were to ask me what good music is, I would simply tell him, you need to listen to Jessie sing first. We all need to learn from her. I think this is the best thing Jessie has brought us."

For the finals, Jessie teamed up with season four winner Coco Lee and KZ to perform a rendition of her hit song, "Bang Bang".

For her solo performance, she took on the challenge of belting out one of the hardest songs to tackle, yet a favourite in reality TV singing competitions, Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You".

Her gamble paid off, as she hit every note effortlessly, blowing the audience and competitors away.

When asked during the interview prior to her performance how badly she wanted to win the competition, she said, "I want to win it now. I didn't at the beginning, but I want to win it now."

She said after her performance, "This show has changed my life and made me a better person and a better performer. Thank you to every single person that has welcomed me with love, with kindness."

She choked up as she added, "I'm so grateful and blessed to be here."

Two days ago, she uploaded a photo of her posing with the trophy on her Instagram account.
