Bored while staying at home with your fam? Here are 7 activities to do together

The circuit breaker period has begun, and almost everyone has to stay indoors. And that means two things.

One, if you have a job deemed 'non-essential' during this period, you'll be working from home.

Two, if you're living with your family, you'll be spending a lot of time with your family. A lot. Literally a month with them and only them.

We get that not getting a break from one another can be hard and having nothing to entertain yourself with is worse. Which is why, we've come up with a few activities that you can do as a family so you don't end up hating one another when the CB is lifted.

Get fit & work out

Working out with a partner is always fun. You get to motivate each other, get fit together and even get to know each other better. So why not do it with your own family members?

Try a simple circuit workout where you guys take turns, or go for a short run together. And even if you aren't sure of what exercises to do, there's tons of tutorials and guides online that you and your family members can follow.

It's all fun and games

If you have a couple game boards or playing cards lying around, why not have some fun and play together? Even if you don't have those, you can always opt to download online mobile apps and play games online together.

There's a lot of apps out there like Monopoly, QuizUp and Scrabble for you and your family to have fun with during this period, so have a go at playing games together and take your mind off any stress you have. If you don’t have any physical games, some of these are available as apps and allow for multi-player options!

Cook and bake

Dalgona coffee, Oreo cheesecake cookies, and many more recipes are trending on social media, so now seems like a good time to try some of these out with your family.

On top of these trending recipes, there's also many more out there that are easy and don't take a lot of time. So, if you and your family members are figuring what to do on your lazy afternoons, try baking or cooking something new. You might even find a new favourite dish.

Have a marathon, the movie kind

If you've missed out on watching some of your favourite shows or movies earlier this year, there’s no better time to catch up on those than now! You could even binge-watch some of your favourite movies and shows with the fam.

Grab some snacks, put on your comfy clothes and have a movie marathon together. Remember to dim the lights for the ultimate at-the-movies experience.

Deep-cleanse the house

When was the last time your house was thoroughly cleaned? And by that, we don’t mean just the living room, but the bedrooms, toilets, kitchen-everything. Since you're now at home with your family and you may have more extra time, take this opportunity to clean the whole house.

With a couple helping hands and each other's company, the house is bound to get cleaned in no time. And who knows? You might even find a trinket or two that you never even realised you have.

Self-care all day, err day

Need a self-care day? Don’t forget to jio the rest of your family. Take your face masks (the skincare kind) and your skincare products and have a pampering sesh with the whole family! You can even put on hand masks, foot masks… the whole works!

Work work work work

Despite the whole family staying at home, everyone definitely has their own priorities-working from home, maybe even home-based learning. So, why not work together?

You could work in the same space, reminding each other to concentrate. It could even be motivating and comforting. Just don’t hold meetings in the same area or you’ll end up talking over one another during Zoom meetings.
