The results of The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025 are out and once again, only one establishment from Singapore made the list.

Odette came in at No. 25 at the awards ceremony held in Turin, Italy.

The French restaurant, which is helmed by the acclaimed Julien Royer, dropped one place from the 2024 results.

For comparison, Thailand has six restaurants on the list, while Japan and Hong Kong have four and two eateries on the list respectively.

From Asia, Bangkok's Gaggan ranked the highest at No. 6, followed by Tokyo's Sezanne at No. 7 and Hong Kong's Wing at No. 11.

Other Asian restaurants that made the top 50 list include Potong from Bangkok at No. 13, The Chairman from Hong Kong at No. 19 and La Cime from Osaka at No.44.

At the top of The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025 list is Maido from Peru, while Asador Etxebarri from Spain and Quintonil from Mexico came in at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.

While Odette is the only local eatery on the top 50 list, two other Singapore restaurants made it to the extended 51 to 100 list, which was announced earlier on June 5.

Burnt Ends, a steakhouse founded by chef-owner Dave Pynt, came in at No. 93.

The restaurant was also in the top five of the World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants 2025 list, which was awarded in May.

Coming in at No. 97 is Labyrinth, which is helmed by chef Han Liguang.

The list of The World's 50 Best Restaurants is organised and compiled by media company William Reed and has been published every year since 2002, with the exception of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The list is created from the votes of 1,080 international restaurant industry experts at The World's 50 Best Restaurants Academy, with a 50-50 gender balance.

It is split into 27 regions around the world and each region has a voting panel of 40 members.

These experts include food writers and critics, chefs, restaurateurs and well-travelled gourmets, each of whom has 10 votes.

Academy members, who must remain anonymous, have to submit their choices in order of preference. They must also have eaten in the restaurants they nominate in the last 18 months.

Additionally, they are not permitted to vote for restaurants they own or have a financial interest in.

Back in March, the results of the adjacent Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2025 list were announced and seven Singapore establishments made the ranking.

This was a drop from 2024, where Singapore had nine representatives on the list.

However, two restaurants climbed up in ranking - Odette at No. 7 and Les Amis at No. 38.
