Thorny treat awaits: Durian carnival in JB just 5 minutes from Second Link

Who's up for a thorny adventure up in Johor Bahru?
With the durian season just round the corner, there's no better way to celebrate it than with a durian feast.
Located just five minutes from the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link, Sunway Big Box Retail Park is set to hold its first-ever Durian Carnival from July 31 to Aug 3.
The four-day extravaganza with durians said to be sourced from one of the largest orchards in Johor will run daily from 12pm to 10pm.
There'll be plenty of durian varieties to pick from — such as Musang King, Black Thorn and Red Prawn — so durian enthusiasts need not fret.
Carnival guests can indulge in the all-you-can-eat durian buffet, which goes for RM98 (S$29) per person.
Having ventilated seating areas is also a nice touch, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant durian-savouring experience.
The carnival also promises fun for all ages, with over 60 stalls offering games and activities such as durian-eating contests and even durian soap-making workshops.
Those who spend RM688 at the carnival and Sunway Big Box Retail Park will stand a chance to collect adorable limited-edition Durian Family plushies — which double as reusable bags.
Not keen on splurging that much?
RM388 in purchases will net shoppers a shot at a "sure-win" lucky draw, with prizes including a 3D2N stay at Sunway Big Box Hotel.
International visitors can also redeem a special tourist pack simply by flashing their passports.
If crossing the border sounds like a hassle, Singapore residents can hop on a special two-way bus service for $8.
Simply gather at Lavender MRT Exit B at 10am, and you should arrive at Sunway Big Box by noon (fingers crossed) to enjoy the festivities at the carnival.
