Hong Kong actor Joel Chan officially ties the knot with girlfriend of 6 years

TVB actor Joel Chan married non-showbiz girlfriend Apple Ho in an intimate wedding last weekend (Oct 31-Nov1).

In an Instagram post after the ceremony, he declared his love for his wife by promising to hold her hands till they grow old.

The 46 year-old is currently working on a new TVB project, Running with Big Steps <大步走>, and took a three day break from filming to prepare for the celebrations. According to Jaynestars, he woke up early on the morning of the big day and went for a jog to prepare himself before wedding rituals and tea ceremony commenced.

As the couple opted out of traditional practices by not having bridesmaids and groomsmen, close friends such as Derek Kok and Benjamin Yuen were invited to join them for the tea ceremony.

Donned in a white vest that showed off his toned muscles, Chan and his wife even poured tea for Kok as a mark of respect.

Chan had previously thanked Kok for his support through his difficult times after his scandalous breakup with socialite Florinda Ho.

Despite this being his second marriage, the actor was still visibly emotional during the registration ceremony.

Speaking to reporters at the evening banquet held at W Hong Kong, Chan admitted he was surprised too, "I thought after filming so many dramas [and saying vows before], I would be very calm. But when I said my name, I had tears in my eyes but I held them back. My wife was surprisingly more calm."

Many of Chan's TVB friends and former co-stars such as Raymond Lam, Mandy Wong, and Paisley Wu came together to celebrate the couple's matrimony at the banquet as well. Many of them took to Instagram to convey their well wishes for the couple and showing off snapshots of the beautiful celebration.

Chan's god-sister Christine Ng was present too and was reportedly "very happy for him and wish he will have babies soon."

When asked about the bride she replied that they have "seen each other a few times. She is beautiful and graceful. She is a good wife. I think they get along with each other well. Before I had an argument with Joel and after I met up with him again, I noticed he matured a lot. I feel this happened after he met Apple."
