Is Yanxi Palace actress Wu Jinyan dating her co-star?

According to a fan sighting, she was spotted cosying up with Hong Yao on a beach in Bali last week.

Recent reports have suggested that sparks flew between the 29-year-old actress and the 27-year-old actor while they were filming dramas The Legend of Haolan and Standardised Life.

On Monday, she took to Weibo and refuted the dating rumours with a meme which read "I'm not, I didn't, don't spread rumours."

Photos that are circulating online, however, show the chummy pair taking a selfie in front of a scuba diving centre in Bali.

Jinyan has previously said that her boyfriend has to be handsome, and the dashing actor appears to be the perfect fit, based on her criteria.

But the roles that Hong Yao has played in recent dramas are hardly husband material.

In The Story of Yanxi Palace, he played Prince He, the emperor's fiendish younger brother who had designs on Ying Luo (played by Jinyan) and raped her sister.

Meanwhile, in The Legend of Haolan, he plays a noble who ditched his first love (also played by Jinyan) and married her sister in his pursuit of wealth.

And in real life, the actress' fans have expressed concern about her alleged boyfriend's dating history.

Hong Yao was reported to have broken up with a girlfriend he met on a dating show in 2013 after he fell for a 16-year-old girl.

Are they dating or are they not? Only time will tell.
