7 GSS deals for furniture and home accessories

Now in its 25th year, the the Great Singapore Sale has seen its shimmer pale somewhat, given that there are plenty of online sales (from 11.11 to 12.12 to Black Friday to Cyber Monday and more) happening almost every month.

But Singapore's biggest shopping event of the year, which will take place from June 21 to July 28, has rebranded itself this year. It's now called GSS: Experience Singapore, with a focus on being a festival of sorts, shining the spotlight on Singapore fashion, food and the arts.

Here are some home and decor brands that have put their items on sale.

SHOPEE

This GSS, online shopping platform Shopee has partnered with banks and payment providers to roll out targeted deals for its customers, under its "bank of the day" promo. All you need to do is make your purchases on Shopee with a card or payment account from that particular payment institution on the day it has a deal with.

On Mondays, enjoy $5 off with Singtel Dash, with a minimum spend of $40; on Tuesdays, enjoy $6 off with Standard Chartered, with a minimum spend of $50; on Wednesdays, enjoy $5 off with UOB, with a minimum spend of $50; on Thursdays, enjoy $10 off with DBS, with a minimum spend of $80; on Saturdays, enjoy $5 off with CIMB, with a minimum spend of $50; and on Sundays, enjoy $10 off with Citibank, with a minimum spend of $80.

No promo code is needed - the discount will be applied automatically. You also get 10 per cent off Marshall products from their official store on Shopee, with a minimum spend of $400 when you use the promo code 'MARSGSS'.

From June 6 to July 7.

JBL

Thinking of getting new speakers or headphones? No better time than now to take the plunge, since JBL is having a deal that will make it worth your while. For instance, if you purchase a JBL Bar 5.1, you'd get a free pair of JBL Synchros E30 Headphones. The JBL Bar 5.1 features two battery-powered, rechargeable, wireless rear speakers with 10 hours of battery life.

Or you can get the JBL Link 500 - a hands-free voice-activated speaker that comes with Google Assistant - at just $459 (UP: $579), and you'd get a free JBL Drawstring Bag thrown in as well. With the JBL Link 500, you can stream music, ask questions, manage everyday tasks, and control smart devices around the home simply with voice commands.

If you're a sporty one and you prefer running wild and free without pesky earphone cables getting in the way, get the JBL Free X at just $169 (UP: $249) and get a free JBL Go Speaker (worth $89.90). We love that the JBL Free X comes with a smart charging case that powers it up when not in use.

The deals are available at available at JBL's authorised dealers in Singapore.

TAOBAO

Not quite for GSS but they are having their annual mid-year sale during the same period, so we're including this in. From June 16 to 18, you'd be able to enjoy various deals on Taoball, Tmall and Tmall Signature. These include RMB20 (S$3.95) off purchases for new users when you enter the promo code 'NEW20′ (applicable to first orders only with a local address and with a minimum spend of RMB21), a 'Jio-A-Friend' promo where you get to enjoy discounts if you pair up with a friend to order the same items (the mechanics involves sharing a link with your friend on the specific products listed under this promo).

There'll also be flash deals from as low as RMB5 (S$1) every day at 12am and 12pm from June 16 to 18, and no credit card transaction fee will be charged when you check out using your debit/credit cards. Remember to log on from June 13 to 15, as they'd be rolling out shopping coupons to offset purchases, where users can get RMB30 off for every minimum spend of RMB300.
