Top skincare products you need to keep your skin glowing even at home

Top skincare products you need to keep your skin glowing even at home

I name my alter-ego Lazy.

She does absolutely nothing when she has to stay in. Even skipping the basic skincare and pretty much looking like crap before I actually have to go out.

In my efforts to boost my skin's health within minutes or overnight, I've tried many skincare products and finally found a few of the best products in the market.

So if you need a quick skincare fix before you head out, here's how you can get your skin glowing in no time!

If you have clear skin naturally…

Don't stress too much over it. Those blessed with good skin should not overdo their skincare and just keep it simple! Put on a sheet mask for 15 minutes to plump and give your skin the essential nutrients and your skin will be glowing.

If you've run out of masks at home, here are some of our top recommendations.

Skin Inc My Soothing Kit (Zalora Exclusive)

With ingredients derived from Okinawa deepsea water, soya bean extracts and quintessential hyaluronic acid, the Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask can be left on overnight or massaged in.

Apply the Vitamin C serum, followed by the mask before using the Optimizer Voyage Blue for a 10-minute massage.

The Chromotherapy (LED) and Low-Frequency Current Stimulation use blue light to soothe any irritation and reduce redness and blemishes your skin.

Patchology FlashMasque Trio

While the FlashMasque® Milk Peel is best used once a week, the FlashMasque® Illuminate and Hydrate can be used as often as you need.

A simple 5-minutes with the mask will be more than sufficient to hydrate and illuminate your skin.

If you're battling a zit breakout

Acne never really goes away even as an adult.

I've been fighting acne breakouts since I was a teenager and even in my mid-twenties now, I still have breakouts from time to time.

Besides the age-old stories you're heard about not touching your face; stop eating mala and so on, acne sticks around like that annoying friend in school.

From my decade-old acne-xperience, the key to keeping acne at bay lies in cleansing and exfoliating. Typically, excess sebum and over clogged pores are the main causes of acne.

While exfoliation should only be done once or twice per week, cleansing daily takes precedence and these are the best products for your daily to weekly cleaning routine.

Acwell Acne Clearing Deep Cleansing Foam

Formulated to clear up acne breakout and sebum control, The Acwell Cleansing Foam is suitable for oily, combination and sensitive skin.

It deep cleanses pores to rid our skin of any makeup remnants, blackheads and whiteheads.

Lifetrons Microdermabrasion Facial

An easy tool to use at home, the Microdermabrasion tool from Lifetrons is your all-in-one solution.

The tool combines microdermabrasion, blue photon light therapy and negative ion massage to soothe and restore your skin's natural glow.

The anti-acne blue photon light controls sebum production and kills bacteria which helps to reduce acne breakouts. Exfoliating heads are included so you won't have to purchase them separately!

Skin Inc My Daily Dose of Vitamins Abc+

Jam-packed with vitamins A, B3 and C, this bottle of goodness helps to balance oil levels and fight oxidation.

Key to fighting acne, the Vitamins Abc+ detoxes congested pores to clear up blemishes and prevents future acne breakouts.

Fighting dry patches

After my acne-fighting ages, my skin decided to serve me another surprise - eczema.

For a good two years, I had terrible dry patches across my face that no medically prescribed cream seems to help. Against the doctor's advice, I ditched my prescribed medication and turned to Dermacare instead.

Within days, the dry patches were significantly lesser and my skin was in a much better state.

Herbal Care Chamomile Soothing Cream

Suitable for day and night use, the gentle Herbal Care Chamomile Soothing Cream helps to relieve any tightness and tension you feel in your skin.

The light consistency also applies well on the skin without feeling sticky so you won't feel any discomfort after applying the cream.

P.S. You probably shouldn't ditch your medication entirely like I did.

Skin and environmentally-friendly makeup remover

Glov Travel Set for All Skin Types

While cleansing is important, you can actually produce a significant amount of waste from the dirty cotton pads that you used.

I've switched to Glov's reusable makeup remover and found it to be very effective in removing makeup and excess dirt in my skin.

Pro-tip: if your Glov is getting dirty, dip it in a mixture of water and micellar cleanser and leave it for 30 minutes or overnight and your Glov will be as good as new again!

Tame your manes

Herbal Care Argan Oil Nourishing Serum for Face, Body and Hair

PHOTO: Zalora

You're probably in a desperate trip to the salon but can't, or is concerned to visit during this period of time.

This is when home haircare becomes exceptionally important. Herbal argan oil provides the essential nourishment for your hair and keeps your mane in tame before your next salon visit.

Just be careful not to apply them at the roots of your hair, otherwise, you might end up with oily scalp after prolonged use!
